Let's Watch "Dream High 2" - Episode 1-6

EXPECTATIONS: I didn't expect much before I started watching and I still don't expect much after the first six episodes...well, at least I don't expect it to be nearly as good as the first season. I don't normally watch sequels to dramas either because I hated the first season or the first season didn't really interest me to begin with. However, I really enjoyed Dream High so I'm giving the second season a shot. It's got nearly the same crew as they had for the first so I'm hopeful that they won't let this go downhill. Let's see how they're doing so far...

Quick Update

It's been a while since I last posted and reviews, especially because I've been watching a lot of shows. Right now, I'm compiling a list of shows I would recommend/discourage from watching as well as games. If I run out of shows and games to list, I'll move onto films. So look out for that!

I plan on reviewing Prosecutor Princess and bought season 1 of Rizzoli & Isles, The Mentalist, and Roots as well as the second season of Fringe. I'm also trying to finish A Game of Thrones as fast as I can so that I can finish the next book before the second season releases. I'll review the first season when I review the book. I also bought Shanghai Girls and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan both by Lisa See as well as Bossypants by Tina Fey. Not only that, I've bought quite a few games since my last post: Assassin's Creed 1-3, Alice: Madness Returns, Mirror's Edge, The Sims 3, Little Big Planet, and Beyond Good & Evil to name a few.

I also hate the name "The Lulzy Club" now...might make that a slogan or something else. I am excited! With that said, I'm out, peepers!

Let's Watch "The Playboy Club" - Episode 1: Pilot

EXPECTATIONS: I hate Hugh Hefner so, of course, my expectations are extremely low. I expect this will be another glamorization of women being emotionally and sexually harassed in the business as well as a white-washed revisionist history. Let's do this...

Let's Watch "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (Nine-Tailed Fox)"

EXPECTATIONS: Yay, another cisgendered and heteronormative K-drama! One of my friends kept telling me to watch this so I'm finally getting around to it. It's by the Hong sisters. Lately, they've been disappointing me to the extreme. The Greatest Love (F-) was horrible and You're Beautiful (D) had its moments but it was almost equally as horrible for almost the same reasons. I don't know how I skipped over this but HERE I AM NOW! I hope Hong sisters don't disappoint me with this. We shall see...

Let's Read "A Quick Bite (Argeneau Series, #1)" by Lynsay Sands

PROS:
→ A few solid ideas (like the anemia thing in the beginning).
→ Great opening.

CONS:
→ Cringe-worthy writing.
→ Hasn't been proofread/edited enough; too many grammatical errors.
→ Terrible at foreshadowing; Chekhov's gun much?
→ There were times when the thesaurus was abused and times when the thesaurus wasn't used enough.
→ Very little "showing" and too much "telling".
→ After page 13, the story dipped.
→ Poor character development; male protagonist is a moron.
→ Far too many useless minor characters.
→ Story was as bland as the characters.
→ Trying too hard at everything.
→ Was too obvious who the villain would be.
→ No chemistry between Greg and Lissianna.
→ Misogynistic, sexist, and objectifying.
→ Cringe-worthy dialogue.

COMMENTS (AKA WHY I HATED IT):

Let's Watch "Teen Wolf" - Episode 1: Pilot

EXPECTATIONS: I was pretty much against watching this because it's MTV and they're known for their trashy gimmicks and whatnot but, after reading about it in last week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, I decided to give it a try. Giving it a chance mostly because it's been a while since MTV has had a scripted show. Who knows? Maybe they've improved. Maybe they're not like The Jersey Shore or any of their other ridiculous "reality" television shows. We shall see...
